Credentials and launch

Launched in 2024. The editorial team includes writers with PhD, JD, MBA, and CPA-equivalent credentials across aerospace engineering, finance, and operations; team members have experience in mission operations, financial analysis, journalism, and the amateur astronomy community. We do not list every team member's full credentials on this page for privacy reasons; details are available on request.

We read every email and respond to most within 48 hours on business days. If you're writing about a specific piece, please include the URL — it helps us route it to the right editor. If you're flagging a factual error, please include a source link where possible; we verify every correction against primary sources before posting.

What to send us

• Tips and story ideas — news tips, regulatory moves, deal rumors, launch schedule changes. We protect sources; anonymous tips can be sent via Signal (request the number by email).
• Corrections — factual errors, broken links, misattributed quotes. Include the URL and the source for the correction.
• Press releases — we don't run press releases verbatim, but we do read them for leads. Sending the actual story behind the release is more useful than the release itself.
• Partnership inquiries — we consider co-branded research projects, dataset collaborations, and conference partnerships. We do not accept paid editorial coverage or sponsored posts.

Response time

We aim to respond within 48 hours on business days. Corrections with source links are usually processed within 24 hours. If you haven't heard back within a week, please follow up — emails occasionally get filtered, and we want to hear from you.

Editorial standards

Our editorial process is documented on the About page. We are editorially independent; no commercial relationship with any space company or vendor affects our coverage. Where gear reviews use affiliate links, the disclosure is at the top of the review.

Newsletter

If you'd like to receive the weekly SpaceOrbitals newsletter (launches, deals, regulatory moves, and one editorial pick per week), subscribe via the form on the homepage. We don't share the subscriber list with anyone, and we don't run any advertising in the newsletter beyond a single ad slot at the bottom. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any issue.

Source protection

We protect anonymous sources. If you need to share sensitive information, request our Signal number by email (we'll send it from a different channel than the one you wrote in on). For physical document drops, request our mailing address by email. We have not been subject to a subpoena for source identification; if we were, we would resist and notify the affected source before any disclosure.

Conflicts of interest

We disclose any potential conflict of interest in any piece where it could be relevant. Common examples: if we own a position in a company being covered, if a vendor being reviewed has provided a free sample (we don't accept these — see editorial standards), if a person being profiled is a personal acquaintance. Disclosures are at the top of the piece, not buried in a footnote.

Editorial calendar

Our editorial calendar is published in the newsletter on the first Sunday of each month. It lists the planned long-form pieces, gear reviews, and major news coverage for the month. The calendar is a plan, not a commitment — stories shift as they develop. We don't publish a piece just because it's on the calendar; if a story doesn't pan out, we drop it and run something else.

Corrections policy

If we get something wrong, we say so prominently. Corrections are dated and posted at the top of the affected piece with a brief explanation of what changed and why. We don't silently fix errors in place — every substantive correction is dated and visible. About 12% of corrections on this site in the past six months came from readers, not from us. We log every correction in the piece's history file (visible to editors but not always public — contact us if you want the history for a specific piece).

Right to be forgotten

If you've been the subject of a piece on SpaceOrbitals and you believe the coverage is inaccurate or no longer in the public interest, contact us at [email protected] with the URL and your specific concern. We evaluate every request on its merits; we don't have a blanket removal policy, but we do correct errors and update outdated material.

Visiting our physical location

SpaceOrbitals is a remote-first publication with no public office. If you need to meet in person for any reason (legal, partnership, interview), contact us first to arrange a meeting; we can meet at a public location in Brooklyn, NY or by video call. We do not accept drop-in visitors.
